My name is Tyler Prow, and I’m a 6th-generation Nebraskan from Omaha. In May of 2022, I graduated from UNL with a B.S. in Regional & Community Forestry and minor in Fisheries & Wildlife. After graduation, my wife and I moved to Honolulu, Hawai’i to follow a job opportunity. There, I worked as a field technician for the Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle Response program within the University of Hawai’i. I've also worked at various points as a farmhand, nursery salesman, and urban forestry intern.

My focus within the plant health realm is forest and urban trees. Much of my work to date has centered on invasive beetle pests of woody plants, and I love exploring the dynamics of prevention, detection, and control with invasive pests and diseases. I’m also interested in the use of GIS and remote sensing technologies as tools for forest health management. My career goal is to be a consulting arborist, agency forest health specialist, or some other variety of tree doctor!

Since I began DPH, I've been fortunate to aid in instructing the undergraduate Dendrology course here at UNL. During my summers, I've had the opportunity to work with USDA-APHIS-PPQ in Lincoln, NE as a field technician and with Vineland Tree Care in Minneapolis, MN as a plant healthcare technician. I am always looking to learn more about tree health!
