
Josh Villazana
DPH Graduate Student
Joshua Villazana is interested in learning more about plant and soil science. His career goals include developing a more interdisciplinary integrated pest management approach for extension services in horticulture, landscape & environmental systems.
In Spring 2025 Joshua began his role as the Pesticide Safety Education Program Coordinator; Assistant Extension Educator and leads a core team of five that develops and delivers educational materials that enable pesticide applicators, farmers, and commercial/noncommercial applicators to purchase and use restricted use pesticides. Joshua earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Texas at Brownsville, studied principles of integrated pest management at Texas A&M University, and earned a Master of Science in entomology from the University of Maine. Joshua is a member of the Entomology Society of America, Gamma Sigma Delta and the Nebraska Chapter. He is also a Board Certified Entomologist with a specialty in urban and industrial entomology.
